Re: Happy Motherless Mother's Day!

This is my ninth Motherless Mother's Day. Before MIL died, except for the final few, they were always a P/A guilt fest. Don't miss that at all.

Re: How is everyone doing?

Also, as of today, my hair is purple. I figured that if I dyed it, my job would call me back sooner. Love it! Isn't that the way things go? Good news about your DH's promotion pay. There are so many people struggling right now, so I'm glad you guys are ok. Update on how we are doing: I find that we...

Re: FIL Moving

Hopefully the move will get him out of your hair for a long time. I'd buy the large box of garbage bags in preparation for your shipment. Or maybe better, get ready for selling on ebay or Letgo.
Congrats!

Re: How is everyone doing?

We are still doing fine, if going a little stir crazy. I'd walk the dog today, but it is snowing with a 45 MPH wind. I can't tell you how grateful I am that we aren't tanking financially because of all of this. We lost about 7% of our retirement savings, but took what was left out before it got too ...

Re: FIL stuck in his old folk's home alone during the pandemic

I see on the news clips how many people are visiting their loved ones who are in senior communities or nursing homes by showing up outside their windows. Awww. If only your EFIL were in your town, you could do that. Or not. I can only wonder what an old narc like that will do with no narc supply or ...

Re: How is everyone doing?

Hang in there Jiggly, I hope you feel well soon and I hope your DB and the rest of your family are ok. DH and I were just discussing how grateful we are that it hasn't gotten too bad here yet, but things seem to be shifting in just a matter of days, so we have been obeying all protocols and staying ...

Re: What has MIL ridiculed you for?

Is it just me or does it seem like what we are ridiculed for is whatever we seem to be good at or smart for doing? Whatever way we are different from them? My MIL ridiculed me when I lost about 45 pounds at the age of 28. She told me I wasn't eating enough and that her son, DH, was so skinny she was...

Re: How is everyone doing?

Hi Melody. We are doing fine. We were lucky that my newSIL read some reports that forecast our winter to be horrible this year. Uhm...not. But in response, around November we bought an extra fridge/freezer for the basement and filled it with all kinds of food that we like. Most of the freezer stuff ...

Re: HAPPY FREEDOM DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Freedom Day to you PutMILinherplace! Tink-tink! I think living next to ILs would have been my worst nightmare. I know exactly how you feel about the freedom. After my MIL and FIL died, I was relieved that the drama would be over and we no longer had to be concerned about them. Of course, my re...

Re: Its 2020 and the new(ish) stoopid games have begun!

The third card, however, is addressed in such a way that my DH looks at it and takes a picture to send to his brother with a caption of "WTF?" It is addressed to "Mr. & Mrs." stepmonster's maiden name and my mispelled name BEFORE I married DH. OMG, this is so familiar. I've told this story before, ...

Re: Happy New Year (Feb.3) Remember me? Thank you!

Hi JustPlainHateHer, It's good to know things are still going well for you. Just a few months after your MIL passed, my horrible ESIL passed also, so I know the relief and freedom of not having to worry about her affecting us ever again. I still check in here and offer advice and commiseration from ...

Re: Another generation is born into the toxic ILs

Ironically, MIL, now deceased, would have been horrified at the things that FN has done in the last couple of years. In fact, MIL died right after she found out that FN had been arrested again for her third DUI, after the incident was written up in their local newspaper. It was one thing if FN was ...

Re: Another generation is born into the toxic ILs

A baby is certainly a blessing and it shocks me that GSIL isn't using the baby to get all that precious attention for herself. Just the opposite, I guess, since taking possession of the baby would be so much work. In her defense, it is a good idea to let FN reap what she sowed and learn how to care ...
