Re: FIL has the memory of a fruit fly

So Golden SIL didn't leave a forwarding address. If that doesn't sum it up, I don't know what does!

And there's a reason Silicon Valley wages are so ridiculously high. MAYBE you'll visit and stay one night if it fits with other plans to do whatever. Otherwise you have other plans.

Re: Text Msg

I hear you. Our family endured too many "bbqs" because DH was summoned. And DH started to laugh when I called them "foodless bbqs". Either it was a stone soup kind of situation where we had to bring everything, or it was an attempt for stepmonster to clean the spoiling food out of her refridgerator....

They'll be driving soon so THEN I'll see myyyyyy Grandchildren!

So the Martyr crap continues. DH's brother called DH yesterday, sounded concerned about something, but had to quickly get off the phone because he had another call coming in that he had to take. DH is worried from BIL's tone and immediately calls his paaaaaaarents. (Ugh! I and the kids haven't talke...

Re: SIL sent me an interesting screenshot...

Lucky enough to not have personal experience to share, sorry Momjeans! Do you think SIL is sending this to warn you that BIL is around? Do you know if she sent it to just you? Maybe she doesn't want to report him or your IL's herself and is hoping the screenshot will "go viral" if she sends it aroun...

Re: Hoovering At Max Capacity

So thank goodness that DH FINALLY cut back on the ridiculous number and length of phone calls. I'd be really annoyed and anxious too. So please try to make DH understand that HIS sending INFO, via pictures (because they're worth AT LEAST a thousand words) is creating new angst and problems. MIL IS n...

Re: Enough with the Martyr Routine!

So DH tells me that, stepmonster and he, "got into it". Um, OK - so it was stepmonster as I assumed. He said that she complained that HER "GRANNNNNNDCHILDREN" were getting older and it wasn't fair that she didn't get to see them. I said to DH, "WHAT Grandchildren? She clearly doesn't mean the two el...

Re: Enough with the Martyr Routine!

We're neighbors my friend! And we're pretty sure my eldest has had it. (She's the kid that I would call in "sick" because she didn't want to get a perfect attendance award, lol). And thank you! Its been 18 years and a SLOW DUH recovery! And the stepmonster warning is a good one. Can you believe I ST...

Enough with the Martyr Routine!

DH told me about a week ago that stepmonster was back in the hospital - not a mental one or a drug rehab as she should be but for whatever the latest stupid drama. The policy of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" - unlike for the military - has worked well for us. As in, I really don't care about her latest att...

Re: Advice on how to handle in-laws

I agree with PutMILinHerPlace. She gives very good advice. Your DH has been living with these people for years. Follow his lead and don't look back - you've got yourself a keeper! My own DH had almost no relationship with his (adopted) mother when we first got together. He barely talked about her - ...

Re: Dusting Off Some Thoughts

First off, Happy Anniversary! And an interesting post. I think I remember the gist of it? And yes, I couldn't agree more that it is all about CONTROL since these IL's own lives are so miserable and their relationships pitiful. Like so many of us, there's no way DH's stepmonster doesn't have some sor...

Contrats! He won't be able to be as much of a pain in the arse with those distractions. :)

Re: FIL’s horrible habit of opening DH’s mail

WhyOhWhy has a good point. YOU should have access to that bill (that has to be paid), not FIL. I have two adult children that use this as their permanent address and I must confess I have carelessly opened their mail. (I've been at this address for 27 years, and get SOOOOOO much crap its just a refl...

Re: How is everyone doing?

Quick question Miwako. I don't think you are, but if you are a union employee you can file a grievance. (My DH was a shop steward). The grievance amount and fine was almost more than the vacation check!
