What went wrong?
One of the dogs were sick this morning.
My car died tonight. Something caught on fire under the hood.

What went right?
The car made it to and from our drive tonight to take us home verses on the side of the road somewhere.
The dog started feeling better and is eating and drinking now. Her gums look healthy, she is able to go potty.
The not having a car isn’t ideal living in the country but people have worse challenges. We have to remember that at anytime someone somewhere would love to change places with us. Everyone has challenges.
Everyday more things go right than some people might remember to appreciate and this is one of the days to appreciate what we have to work with right now.
We have a warm home, we could pay for grocery delivery service, and some people don’t even have shelter and have never even owned a car. (It is a bit tricky living in the country verses the city without a car though!)
We are down to one car for four people but at least we have one car to get the 3 who have jobs away from home to work with them sharing it.
I wake up everyday at my job which is making our house into a home which is clean, has food prepared, happy pets, healthy plants, etc . I don’t have to commute to be home.
Solutions can and be will be found. I know that things could always be worse.
Daisy was a good car and I enjoyed driving her.

Great post! Asking what went right is something we often overlook and we end up focusing solely on what went wrong. Last week, this would have been my version...
WHAT WENT WRONG?
- Day 3 without power (over 48 hours) and freezing/sub-freezing temperatures
WHAT WENT RIGHT?
- We are blessed with good health so we don't have any medical requirements for power.
- Day off from work. Can't work from home with no power/WiFi.
- We have a well-insulated house that's keeping it reasonable indoors.
- We have plenty of clothes/blankets/etc. to keep warm.
- The makeshift refrigerator we created 2 days ago with a plastic bin surrounded by packed snow is still holding up and keeping food cold. (It made it to the end; over 75 hours!)
- The roads are cleared enough to drive around so we can a) get food, b) warm up a bit more, and c) charge the phone, electric lanterns, etc.
- The LEGO set we purchased has given us to time to spend together on a family activity.
- The curtains we hung to "separate" the living room actually keeps that room a bit warmer. And burning some candles makes it even warmer!
- I was able to do some reading since I didn't have a ton of other distractions.
- We cut our power bill by 1/10th for the month!

I hate that you were without power! The creative way that you kept food cold was wise!
We have been through that before and ended up heating only one room with a space heater and a generator that was out in the garage. We ended up on the news! We kept the deep freezer going and the fridge. I was able to cook on a plug in electric oven top burner, and make pancakes on a electric skillet plugged in to the extension cord from the generator.
The news came and filmed our home to see how we were making it through the ice storm power outage. One our our dogs developed a cold and his nose was running. Funny, how our road became a priority and the power company came the next morning to repair our fallen power lines!
I think it was the cute dog with the cold and the family of five, parakeets in a cage, a fish tank and two dogs all sleeping in the same bedroom! We had plastic taped over windows and in front of the bedroom door like a curtain behind the door! It worked out well!

Hahaha! I can definitely see the power company execs thinking, "Get their power on... NOW!" 
Thankfully, we had our deep freezer pretty well stocked, so everything stayed frozen solid. The really funny part was when our family called a couple of days afterward and we told them about everything. They were telling us everything we should/could have done and we finally said, "We were fine. Going back to work after it was all over was MUCH worse than anything we had to deal with."

True, you had it all under control during the power outage!
I can imagine that you and your wife were both had some work tasks catching up to do, extra laundry to wash and many things to put away back in the garage!
The longest we were out it power was 7 days. The other power outrage was 5 days.
We learned some life skills during each experience! We live in a different home and different state now with a better power line situation. :::knock on wood:::: We are on well water so without power, no water! People that have stayed home during outrages herre say fill up the bathtub, water bottles for everyone, big bowls, etc as a source of water! They listen to the weather and if they say “frozen ice” they go into water readiness plan!
In the city (and other state) we had city water. It was available through the tap but only ice cold water!
A neighbor from where we lived before told us they put dry ice in their fridge and deep freezer and didn’t lose Ann groceries. However, he was treated like a criminal when buying the dry ice! They had to see his license and and what he was using it for etc! He is a college professor!
