My husband and I go out for a "date" about 2 or 3 times a year. The last time we went out was with another couple. Things were going very nicely and we were all having a great time. I look up and in walks my Mother in law. My husband jumps up like a 5 year old boy and runs to his Mommy. He hugs her and brings her over to where our group is and introduces her to our friends. They look incredibly surprised and uncomfortable. He then ushers his Mother over to me and says "Look babe, Mom's here!" She then reaches out and hugs me. WTF? This bitch barely says Hello to me when we go visit her and she's hugging me hello? MIL spends the next hour and a half with my husband, trying to visit with our friends. Then she gets up to leave and hugs me goodbye. The whole thing was incredibly embarrassing for me and I was so shocked by what my MIL did. On our way back home my husband actually asked why I didn't talk to his Mother. I asked him why she showed up like that on what was supposed to be our date night. He says "Oh, she just stopped by to say hi." I ask him, Didn't you just see her the day before for several hours? I told my husband that his mother crossed a boundary and he needs to tell her that what happened will never happen again. I also told him that we won't be having anymore date nights, no matter how shitty our marriage is because he can't keep his moth shut around his mother. When our son graduates high school, I will be filing for divorce. If our marriage is bad and he doesn't think his Mommy showing up on date night isn't a big deal then there's nothing I can do or say to change that.
